[ Diving Whale ] This Chilkat ceremonial robe design is was the one used for the black lines on the Transcendent Whale backdrop created for A’akw Rock music festival. Its design is a variation of the “Diving Whale” set of motifs used on dozens of Chilkat robes over the centuries — by both contemporary weavers and our ancestors. Many times, one pattern was/is used by several weavers to weave almost the exact robe.
